Kwik Trip Sells Polar Plunge Icons to Support Special Olympics

It may just look like a piece of paper, but when customers purchase a Polar Plunge icon at their local Kwik Trip store from November 6th to 19th , they are transforming the lives of Special Olympics Wisconsin (SOWI) athletes.

Kwik Trip’s annual icon sales campaign will take place in stores across Wisconsin. Customers can purchase a paper icon for just $1 each, sign their names and display them in their local Kwik Trip to show support of the athletes.

“At Kwik Trip, we believe in not only taking care of our co-workers, but also in giving back to our communities,” said Steve Wrobel, Public Relations. “The words in our mission statement ‘to serve’ and ‘to make a difference in someone’s life’ is lived out daily by our co-workers. To support one athlete for one year is $552! Please join with us in making a difference in the lives of these special athletes with a donation.”

In 2014, Kwik Trip customers raised $118,615. These funds provided year-round programming in sports, health and education to individuals with intellectual disabilities. This year, each Kwik Trip store is encouraged to support at least one athlete for a year by selling 552 icons.

“We are thrilled to have Kwik Trip’s continued support of our mission and we are truly thankful to Kwik Trip’s loyal customers who purchase icons during this promotion,” said Dennis Alldridge, SOWI President & CEO, “The purchase of these Polar Plunge icons can truly change our athletes’ lives forever.”
